Magari × Kochi-Muziris Biennale 2024–25

Biennale Through Our Eyes

The Kochi-Muziris Biennale is one of Asia s largest contemporary art exhibitions. Spread across the warehouses, courtyards, and colonial buildings of Fort Kochi, it draws artists from over 40 countries. Magari went not as visitors, but as observers with a particular lens.

Rather than reviewing artworks or documenting installations, the series asks a quieter question: what does it feel like to be inside a space where contemporary art is present? Each episode takes one idea, time, silence, body, space, and follows it through the galleries and streets of Fort Kochi

"Unfolding" the Docu series

Conceived as Magari s cultural interpretation of the Kochi-Muziris Biennale, Unfolding is a four-part docuseries directed by Dhara Kanani. It approaches the exhibition through space, material, time, rhythm and presence, allowing meaning to emerge without explanation. Full episodes on YouTube

Space  ഇടം Idam

The final chapter looks at space not as backdrop but as material. How architecture shapes what art can do inside it. How an open room and a contained one ask different things of the person standing in them. What it means to design a space that holds attention.

Episode 3 | 4 minutes

Body ശരീരം Shareeram

The third chapter is concerned with the body as an instrument of attention. How physical presence inside a work of art changes what you notice. How the act of standing still, or moving slowly through a
room, is itself a form of looking

Episode 2 | 5 Minutes

Silence നിശബദം Nishabdam

The second chapter explores silence not as an empty void, but as an active frequency within a space. The quiet air between whispered words. The subtle ripples created by a moment of stillness. The gentle surrender of simply being present. How silence does not just empty a room. It transforms it.

Episode 1 | 5 MINUTES

Time കാലം Kalam

In the first chapter, time is not a chronological sequence but a layer of design. It is the rain absorbed
by bamboo. The patina on a well-worn chair. The deliberate pause between thought and creation.
How time does not just pass over a space. It builds it.
